Thompson Got Excellent Value

According to the Journal, the return for Favre is structured as follows:
The pick starts out as a fourth-rounder, but jumps up to a third if
Favre plays 50% of the Jets' snaps. It becomes a second if he plays 70%
of the snaps and the Jets qualify for the playoffs.
Awesome deal. When you consider the Packers had absolutely zero leverage in the situation, Green Bay and Thompson really made out here. Favre was not going to play for the Packers, whether you like that or not, Rodgers is going to start this year and everyone realized it. The Packers pretty much got a third round pick for a guy they would have had to cut if it had come down to it.

In a similar situation, all the Raiders were able to get for Moss was a 4th rounder with no escalators.

Shrewd indeed Mr. Thompson.
