How to measure NFL success

Specifically for Green Bay and to a lesser extent Brett Favre.

What does each side have to do to prove their mutual decision was not in fact two mistakes? Will it be fair to compare the performance of Favre and Rodgers? if so, by what standard? Games started in 2008 seems a good choice beyond the regular passing statistics.

Rodgers takes over a team essentially unchanged from last year. What expectations should there be? another NFC championship game? doesn't seem unreasonable. is it?

Favre is going to a very crappy team. How might his success be measured? number of wins? playoffs? passing stats?

Although i disagree with the decision process i am consoled that i can root for the Packers and Favre to reach the Super Bowl. Favre success means draft value for the Packers. And of course i like the guy.
