Brewers v. Balester

This one is easy. Colin Balester, the long and lean 22 year old righty who has pitched 31.7 big league innings, has never faced a Brewer, at least not in the bigs.

He has been marginally effective and fares worse against lefties than righties. Of course, Counsell should be at 2nd and Branyan should be at third, but we all know that won't happen.

Going by the JSOnline boards (and Anthony Wittrado himself in the mailbag) Bill Hall should sit the entire series because he has been terrible in the past against the Nationals. Nevermind that he has not necessarily faced generic National pitcher X, he should not play (going by the "he kills the Reds" logic of the Urinal staff and commenters).

Sickels had Balester ranked in the Nationals top ten prospects coming into the year, and their second best pitching prospect behind Ross Detwiler. Detwiler has been absolutely atrocious in the minors while Balester has been uninspiringly average.

This is the type of pitcher the Brewers barely scratch, but with CC on the mound hopefully they won't need to do too much. Also, he is only averaging about 5 innings per start, so hopefully the Crew can wear the bullpen out early.
