All Batting Average All the Time

Just when I was starting to like Tom Haudricourt:
Salome and Escobar have overtaken Mat Gamel as the top hitter at Huntsville. Gamel had a blistering first half but has slipped in recent weeks to .333 overall.

Ugh. If by "best hitter" you mean the highest batting average, then yeah, I guess. But if by best hitter you mean best hitter...then, no.

Matt Gamel: .333/.400/.545 17 HR
Angel Salome: .345/.398/.534 9 HR
Alcides Escobar: .343/.377/.452 8 HR

Escobar really isn't even all that close to the other two, and Gamel clearly has the better numbers. I bet Escobar gets extra "grit" points though.

Don't believe the lies. The best hitter, by far, in the Brewers organization is Gamel.
