The Case Against Sabathia

This post is a continuation of a downstream thread on the Sabathia joyride. A ride which will be nasty, brutish, and short; ending in the fetal position of squalor and shame.

The Brewers are already likely to lose Sheets after 2008. Losing two pitchers makes losing one pitcher half as bad. Put another way, the Brewers are now in twice as much trouble as they will lose Sheets and now Sabbathia. The Brewers will lose pitching in 2009 and now have less resources to recoup the loss.

The fact of the matter is that the Only way this deal makes sense is if the Brewers do in fact win the World Series. Manager Ned Yost has never won a playoff game, let alone a playoff series, let alone the World Series. The man has a winning % of .470. The Brewers have not sniffed a playoff game since 1982. What on Gracious God's green Earth makes people think the Brewers will suddenly blow by everybody to Win a World Series?

The Brewers are prematurely crushing a chance to reach and succeed in the World Series for several consecutive years.

Obviously I don't have 100% certainty on my side; but the dealer is showing an Ace. Yeah I could win, but i wouldn't bet the house on it.
